Our best-selling Music player

It is upsetting to see a person with dementia looking bored or feeling isolated due to inactivity. Music is a wonderful way to assist them in becoming connected and engaged with the things happening around them.

The Simple Music Player was designed specifically with dementia persons in mind. It is extremely easy to use even when a lack of dexterity is an issue. The music begins to play when the lid is lifted and to skip to the next track there is one large button to press. The volume is set by family members or carers and cannot, accidentally, be changed. The songs are selected and downloaded via a USB link from a Windows, Apple or Linux PC, ensuring that the music your loved one most enjoys is what is playing.

  • Volume is set by family or carers through a pencil-point hole and cannot be accidentally changed
  • Capacity of 4GB, nearly 1000 songs
  • Comes with 5 Big Band songs - we recommend loading your own music up for a personal, musical experience.
  • 'Drag and Drop' music from your PC to your Player via USB, no software to install
  • Power requirements: Local mains supply

Review by Barbara Stephens, Caregiver-in-Chief at Unforgettable

The Simple Music Player is ideal for people with dementia living on their own and for people living in care homes who might spend time on their own. The easy to use on/off mechanism; lift the lid to turn the music on, close the lid to turn the music off & makes it a very accessible resource for providing comfort, stimulation or distraction. Recognising the versatility of this product, especially its facility to store personalised playlists, family carers have identified the Simple Music Player as a must have to help with the challenges of providing everyday care and to enable people with dementia to remain independent.

stylish and extremely easy to use

Designability, one of our charity partners, created this product, and people with dementia are at the heart of its design. It’s very simple to operate; just lift the lid and the music plays, close it and the music stops (a mechanism which older people might be familiar with from record players). It also allows the person with dementia to retain choice about what they listen to, which I feel is very important. Plus, it comes pre-loaded with some great jazz tunes so it’s easy to use straight away, or you can plug it in and download any music you want. I’m delighted to make this product available to a wide audience. I wish it had been around when I was caring for Mum so she didn’t have to rely on me to choose her music for her!

This has bought great pleasure to my Mum.
06-Nov-2018 Product:

Excellent. Mum is already managing to use. She has moderate Alzheimer's and is in a residential dementia home. I found it a little difficult to download specific albums as it seemed to only want to download my library. Also couldn't seem to shuffle tracks. You have to remember if we have aging parents with... A great product with excellent sound quality. Struggled a bit to work out how to get mum’s favourite cds synced onto it but got it done eventually! Mum has very poor sight but it is so easy for her to use and she loves it.

Great bit expensive but worth every penny to see my sister enjoying the music.

Excellent product, father in law with dementia, who loves his music but is unable to navigate music devices anymore. This device is simple to use once we had downloaded his favourite music on to it.
27-Sep-2018 Product:

The music player is easy to turn on and off but the volume control is difficult and the player could come with more music suitable for dementia loaded
