I think there's a real gap in the market for products to assist people who have mild memory loss or are in the early stages of dementia. They don't need complex products, just a bit of help to remember things. This key locator is one solution which could be useful and we're hoping to offer a wide range of similar products soon.

I bought this product to replace a Locator system - because the handset used to activate and find the Locator tags had become too complex for my mum, who has Alzheimer's, to use. The handset on this product looked really simple.

But the device is completely useless.

When activated the fobs give off a quiet high pitched bleep. Just placing the fob inside a handbag made it impossible for me to hear the bleep. I found it impossible to hear when the keys / fob were in a draw, under some clothes or in a coat pocket. My mother has mild hearing loss and some tinnitus could not hear the bleep when the device was placed on a table in the same room.

So only useful if you have excellent hearing and will only ever need to find something left on a table top or similar.

The object locator came is a lovely box. It easily attached to items that I am always putting down and can never find. My keys, purse etc. The fobs attach nay a keyring and so for the items that I can't attach that way - like the tv remote, I simply taped them on. I can now always find theses items quickly with no stress. The only negative is that there could do with there being a space to write what the fob is attached to, instead i have just taped on to the remote control which is which i.e. keys, tv remote etc. I highly recommend this product. Very simple to use.

The object locator and beeping key finder arrived quickly and is very nicely presented in a box, so would make a nice present. However I fail to see how it is suitable for anyone with dementia. As the remote does not have any space where you can write in what it relates to only letters A,B,C,D,and E, although it claims to be a labelled remote. So how does the individual know which button to press particularly as Alzheimer`s affects memory. Also the beep sound the key fob transmits could be very difficult for an elderly person to actually hear as its not that loud particularly if the lost item was in another room. The remote can be attached to a wall so that it doesn't become misplaced, this is a nice feature however it is not supplied with screws or the sticky pads that it suggests.
