Puzzles can be a very therapeutic activity in which to get the person with dementia involved. Some studies have shown that doing puzzles and playing games may help to slow the progression of dementia, allowing the individual to continue their normal daily routines for longer. Each stage of the dementia journey differs from the next so deciding whether this is an activity in which the individual for whom you are caring can participate is up to you.

Ah, yes, the joy of making music, one of the most therapeutic activities for someone with Alzheimer's or dementia. Created to inspire the emotional connection that music has, this puzzle has a beautiful image of the piano. Music is a big part of everyday life; it helps create good moods and joy when it is needed. The piano symbolizes all types of music and is a great conversation starter. This image may encourage you to listen to some classic tunes while enjoying piecing it together with the person for whom you are caring. The level of difficulty can be changed based upon where you start. Endorsed by Alzheimer’s Disease International, a portion of all sales are given back to Alzheimer’s Disease International.

A puzzle to evoke musical memories

Mr. James Ashwell, Founder of Unforgettable

One of the reasons I founded Unforgettable was because of the problem we had keeping Mum entertained. As her dementia progressed she was unable to continue her old hobbies, but really enjoyed jigsaws. However, it was frustrating to discover that simpler jigsaws were only designed for children. This 12 piece puzzle has been specially designed for people with dementia and will be particularly enjoyed by music lovers. It may well trigger some happy memories and lead to a very enjoyable conversation.
