If you are looking for a way to allow the person in your life with dementia to stay in the home that they love, maintaining independence, home monitoring may be the answer. Canary is a discreet home monitoring and notification system that allows you to keep a gentle eye on the individual with dementia. It monitors, movement, temperature and light. There are no cameras so no one can be seen or heard. Instead, sensors are placed in rooms or on doors that are most often used, monitoring movement around and entry and exit to and from the property. The information collected is relayed to you via mobile, laptop or desktop computer, giving you peace of mind. Should anything out of the ordinary occur, instant alerts are sent by text or email. Visitor cards are included, allowing family or carers to check in and out.

We’re confident that Canary will make a real difference to you and your loved one, but we also appreciate that every situation is unique and you may want to try it to see for yourself. For this reason, we offer a 30 day money-back guarantee. If you decide that Canary isn’t right for you, you can simply return it to us for a full refund within 30 days of purchase. Returns must be in their original packaging.

*Once the trial period is over, you will be charged a monthly monitoring fee of £15 (with VAT relief). This includes all mobile communication costs from your relative’s home to Canary HQ, monitoring and interpretation of all data on Movement, Temperature, Light and Visitor Cards and all costs related to sending of SMS and Email alerts.

An impressive product which can provide peace of mind

Mr. James Ashwell, Founder of Unforgettable

This is something I really wish we’d had when Mum was in the early stages of dementia, and we wanted her to retain as much independence as possible. The telecare market is one I’m very keen for Unforgettable to develop and simplify – lots of products currently available are outdated and complicated. Canary is one of the the new breed of companies trying to bring simplicity to the design of home monitoring systems, making them easier to set up and ultimately more accessible. I haven’t used this myself, but it looks simple and can track activity without the use of CCTV which some people have ethical concerns about.
Although many home monitoring systems can seem expensive, they can provide reassurance to families, and could be more cost-effective than a live-in carer.
